CUARTETO SILENCIO
Whether they play in quartet, sextet or full orchestra formation, the musicians of Silencio know how to seduce and excite the tango audience. The profound quality of their music has been inspired by the traditional orchestras of Buenos Aires from the Golden Age of Tango and the legendary styles of Pugliese, D’Arienzo, Biagi, Di Sarli and Gobbi. At the heart of Silencio is the talented argentinean pianist Roger Helou who has been one of the driving forces behind the boom of live tango music in Europe. Roger is an acclaimed musician, arranger and teacher of tango music who has spent many years researching the arrangements, the styles and the techniques of the great tango orchestras in the history of tango. For the concert of Silencio in Sofia he brings the orchestra’s leading members, including bandoneonist Jose Luis Betancor (Uruguay), violinist Amadeo Espina (Argentina) and double bass player Wini Holzenkamp (Germany).

RANAS, DUO PORTEÑO DE TANGO
After playing together for 3 years at the mythical Cafe Tortoni in Buenos Aires the bandoneonist Leandro Schnaider and the pianist Pablo Schiaffino decided in 2007 to name their Duo “Ranas”, record their first CD and embark on their first world tour. Both the CD and the tour proved to be a resounding success and gave birth to one of the most popular traditional tango duos of our times. 3 CDs and 16 world tours later Duo Ranas will finally land in Sofia directly from Buenos Aires for their first ever appearance on a Eastern European stage. They will present a repertoire dominated by music from their latest CD “Jupiter”, containing famous traditional tangos performed in their signature breathtaking arrangements that make a duo sound like a whole tango orchestra.
