CENTRAL MILITARY CLUB

A Neo-Renaissance monumental building from the turn of the 20th century that has been one of the main cultural icons of Sofia. Originally built as an Officer’s Club in the traditional architecture style of the western clubs from the end of the 19th century, it has quickly become the leading cultural and social center of the capital, contributing to the development of the performing arts in Bulgaria. This exquisite cultural monument will be the venue for the concerts and the Gran Milongas on Friday and Saturday taking place in its imposing concert and ballroom hall.

THE HOUSE OF MOSCOW

A historic building that has been a symbol of the ties between Bulgaria and Russia. Constructed in 1880 with a unique interior in a style typical for the end of 19th century it was one of the most significant buildings in Sofia at the time. Initially it housed the first Russian imperial diplomatic mission in Sofia. Subsequently, from 1917 until 1976 this was the representative building of the Soviet Embassy in Sofia (so be careful what you speak as the building may still be wired :-)). The beautiful halls of the House of Moscow will host the festival information center and the festival workshops.

MOSKOVSKA 15

Another historic building located just behind the National Gallery (the former Royal Palace) known as the “house with the clock”. Legend has it that Tsar Ferdinand (ruler of Bulgaria between 1887 and 1918) purchased the house for his lover and installed a big clock on its roof so that he could see it from the palace and count the minutes before they meet. We don’t know if this story is true, what we know is that this house makes a perfect setting for an afterparty in the small hours of the night. This is where we will dance after the Gran Milongas on Friday and Saturday night.
